This morning I decided to take a picture of the house as it is now. It's really starting to take shape!

None of the second floor rooms are attached yet, and the changing room to the spa isn't hinged to the house yet, but it gives you an idea of how the house looks up to this point.

I'm starting the second tatami room, which I call the dragon room because of the paper. The dragons are a bit large, but this handmade paper is really gorgeous in person, so I had to use it. I just figure an artist stayed there and papered the wall, then painted big gold dragons on it. :-) In person, it is such beautiful paper that it looks fine in the room. I got the back wall and floor done last night, as well as putting the ceiling on the left tatami room.

I'm also relieved because I found the tiny pieces for a little overhang that goes over the fusuma (sliding doors) to the left tatami room. When I open each chapter, if there are really tiny pieces which might get lost before I get to them, I put them into little zip lock bags. Well, I misplaced the bag of tiny pieces, and was afraid I would have to make pieces to replace them. Anyway, I found them last night, so now I am working on the little overhang, and will probably be able to finish it and put it onto the wall tonight.

There isn't much furniture in there right now because I don't want to break it while I work on the house.

You're doing a great job with this Japanese inn.  Thanks again for sharing your progress on this unique project.

Thanks everyone, for some reason I'm not getting notified about comments to my albums anymore, so I'm having to manually go through them.

Michele, there are nine main rooms, one bathroom, and nine extensions. The tatami rooms are the most fun because I love decorating them! I got the kits on either Feb 23 or Feb 25, I can't remember which, so I think I am going quite fast on it!

Thanks Cathy and Mike, yeah, I like the depth of the extensions too!

I just started kit #44, so it is almost half done, Aggiemae, but like you said, there will be a lot more to make for it once the kit is done!

You say they are kits. Do they come with all the mini decorations too? My father would love his.

hey, I have some Japanese miniatures. Let me see if I can find them. I'll take pics. If you want them I'll send hem out to you. My parents were VERY into Japanese miniatures.

There are 110 boxes, each with parts of a room, and many with little furniture or other accessories to make. So far, everything I have made has been part of the kits.

I will be making lots more accessories for it, but I wanted to get the kits done first. Aggiemae sold it to me for a very good price, but it was still way more than I really could afford to spend. I just wanted it so much, and my husband and I haven't bought any presents for each other for years, so he told me to put it on a credit card and get it for valentine's day. So anyway, this is one house that I definitely am going to finish! Then I will do the landscaping and other accessories.

You'll have to bring your father to Maine so he can see it!

Wow, that would be wonderful about the miniatures, I would gladly pay for them! This house is 1/20th scale, so it's a weird size, but the other member here who has this house,  Peggy, has used both 1/12th and 1/24th in hers for accessories.
