Opie

Myangela

It has been a very sad week for me, my husband, and my daughter.  We lost our feline companion, Opie.  She was our "outdoor" cat, she showed up about five years ago, and had spent every day wandered in and out of our garage/studio all day while I worked on model railroads and was there when I transitioned to dollhouses.  She supervised me when I gardened, and managed to train my husband to jump  to her silent, sign launguage commands!  But, she only barely tolerated being brought inside, although she was starting to relent. That was until the Spring weather arrived down here in Houston.  Last Friday morning, she was no where to be found.  We search everywhere, as did our neighbors, everyone knew our little Opie.  We did find some evidence of her that morning, however.  We live in the 'burbs outside of Houston.  Raccoons, opossums   abound and occasionally even a coyote, or alligator, after a flood.  But, we also have owls, big ones.

I'm so sorry :( My husband's family had a cat with very similar habits. She just went outside one morning and didn't come home. I'm glad you made a miniature of her.

So sorry for your loss.  It's hard losing our furry friends/family (and they really do feel like family).  Orange cats can be incredibly sweet.  We had an orange boy that we called our honey cat, both for his color and his temperament.  It's so good you were able to memorialize her in miniature.

Thank you.  Ginger cats are the sweetest.  Honey sounds like he was really special, too.  I had one a while back, Lucy.  She was a great little kitty.  Sweet as the day was long.

Thank you, so much.  Opie was actually a she kitty, but we didn't find that out until after we named her.  Female red tabbies are so rare, just assumed she was a he, too.  Everyone loved the name, so it stuck.  Thank you, again.

She was so beautiful. I feel terrible for you. I have lost so many animals over the years, and you never quite get over any of them. I just try to remember how happy we made them, and they made us, but it still aches when I think of each one we lost.

I'm so sorry.  It is so difficult to lose them that way.  Never knowing for certain, and just hoping they'll come home.

Thank you, Linda.  She was such a perfect companion for me and my husband.
