Ivy

WyckedWood

I did some more Ivy today on the opposite side of the door. Don't want to get carried away with it but I think it makes a neat backdrop for flowers to go in front of it and I think it sort of anchors the house down. Made a witchy looking broom ( not sure if a witch lives here ) and some small violet or primrose type flowers in the cracks of the steps.

Love your ivy. Is it kit? Do you make? How do you do it? I want ivy on one side of my house

@MLI Designs I use a paper punch made by a company called punch bunch. I don't think theyre in business anymore but I buy the punches I use on ebay. A seller named aquilla. Just search MINI punch ivy. You want ***mini*** not small. the punch is 1/4 inch. I use a thin, painted green paper. The "vines" are natural roots I found in my backyard. Some people use twisted very fine wire painted green or brown. You would want the thinnest florist wire you can find if you go that route. I like the natural vine because I don't have to paint it or twist it. After you punch the ivy you just glue it onto the twig or whatever vine you use.

I really like the broom! Care to share how you made it?

@Trinh Ive made a lot of these brooms, you can make them so easily, just a natural twig, stuck into a bunch of folded over raffia and then glue and tie it with string. You can add glue to the end of the twig before sticking it in the raffia. Then you trim the raffia. You can shape it anyway you want, keep it really loose and messy (the raffia) or keep detailing and tying string, pulling the raffia apart and hiding small amounts of tacky glue within the strands,  to shape it more. You can split the raffia to fine strands using anything sharp, sharp tweezers, needle, any sharp tool. Good luck, glad you like it :)
