Today I started working on the exterior wainscotting. It's not finished yet, but it is already making the house look much nicer. Last night I added the kitchen window. I've been reading several books from the 1880's about Japanese architecture, and so many things about this house, including the kitchen window look exactly like the drawings in the books. There will be a matching window in the spa.

With the extensions open, it will take up the whole length of the plywood, which is four feet! Closed, it is only 27" x 11". It's just under four feet with the downstairs extensions open, but the extensions on the next two floors will make it 54" wide, because they will double the width of the house! It's 1/20 scale. If it was 1/12th, it would be huge!

This will look good wether it's open or closed it's such a beautifully detailed structure!

Thanks Mike, it seems to be so close to the drawings in the old books. They seem to have been very careful with the design of it!

This is so fascinating.  Reminds me of architectural pictures I cut out of Life magazine in the 60's as a little girl.  Still have the article as I loved the design so. . .  Seeing which fabrics and wallcoverings you choose is also enjoyable as everything is so clean and subtle in design.
