Chanticleer staircase

Dalesq

Anyone who has built the half scale Chantilly can tell you the staircase is a puzzle. The instructions that come with the kit are for the 1:12 scale diecut version (at least mine are) and in them the staircase is assembled separately from the railing. But in the lasercut 1:24 scale kit, the railing is part of the staircase assembly. So, for future reference (and anyone who wants to know) I found the easiest way to assemble it is 1) stringer on wall, 2) stair rail, 3) lower inside stringer, 4) stringer that attaches to rail, 5) lower rail, 6) risers, 7) treads (steps), and then 8) upper railings.

Now it's time to take it all apart again and do some touch up painting and precut some trim pieces.

It's also time to take the house out of dry fit again so that I can start papering the interior :)

I have the 1:12 and struggled with the staircase. No matter how I painted it (and I did many times), it never looked right to me. I ended up putting in my own railing and Miss Chantilly is much happier. I, too, love how it turns at the bottom. In fact, this house has been really special.

Enjoy!
