Building Bunkbeds: 2

havanaholly

After I cut the bottoms I cut out 1/4" notches from each corner and made sure they fit the 1/4" dowel, which I cut into four 6.5" lengths. I marked each dowel at 1.5" & 5.5" intervals and laid two in my gluing jig. I used a toothpick to spread carpenter's wood glue onto each notch on two ends of one long edge of both bottom pieces and set each one at its set of marks on the dowels and then I spread glue on two edges of each head- and footboard and set them in place and held them with bits of masking tape. I supported everything in place with the little magnets that come with the jig until the glue had dried & begun to cure.

Then I repeated the process with the other two 1/4" dowel lengths.
