this is what the stairs looked like after I painted and out a floor on the steps. but the color was off, they looked orange compared to the rest of the floor that I stained a walnut. I ended up attempting to make my own stairs but they came out crooked. I ended up tearing apart the original floors

Stairs have been troubling for me, too. I so disliked the stairs in the Chantilly that I ripped them out at least twice, then stopped working on the house for about 3 or 4 years.
