I am crocheting granny squares for the master bedroom afghan - my daughter wants a beach theme and chose these colors. Not quite as small as I would like but when I am finished with this one (and my loupes arrives I will attempt to go down to the size 14 hook. This is done with sewing thread and a size 12 hook and is about 3/4" square.
