This is what you see if looking up at the ceiling. I made sure to place this on the far side of the light so it is not as noticeable when you look into the room.

Just thinking out loud. Not sure what you have for miniature electrical supplies in NZ but it might be possible to run the wires directly into the backside of the ceiling rose area without using the outlet part.

 

Snip it off and strip the wires down so you can make a join. Then you use what we call shrink tubes to cover the wires where you join and twist together from the light to the wiring itself. 

 

Of course that makes it much more difficult to change out the light to a new one because you have to undo the ceiling rose to get to the wiring. It's then not a simple plug in and out to change lights. Depends on what is most convenient for you of course.

Yes, I'll be adding wire and we call it 'Heat shrink'.  However if a bulb blows or I want to change the lights I won't be able to.  This is why we have gone with it this way.
