Selkie 4,484 Posted June 2, 2015 I take it that it is made from a foam product. Is the wood still under as the base and the foam on top or is this completely lightweight foam straight through? Did you mold it or carve it? Sorry to sound so nosy, it's just really interesting. The cover must make your wiring waterproof, correct? 1 Quote Link to comment
glen 79 Posted June 2, 2015 Hi Selkie, no the wood is all gone. I made a fibreglass mould from the wooden plug and then made a fibreglass casting from that. The mould was so small and complex that I only got one hull out of it and it was destroyed. Darn!! So this is a one-off glass hull. (exactly the same material as a real boat) I'm going to make two interiors. One a display scale and the second a waterproof enclosure for the electronics as you pointed out. 1 Quote Link to comment
