Just curious, how difficult is it to put the bay on and off?

Do you think it will knock off shingles and siding from the moving on and off?

I've not ever attached mine and had planned to glue it on permanently to a second faux exterior wall. Having second and third thoughts about how I might do all of that.

It's not at all difficult to remove the bay.   I will only install the clapboard and shingles up to the outline of the removable bay.   The removable bay sits very snugly against the exterior wall and there are slots in the porch roof and a slot in the actual bay itself that fit to hold it in place securely.

I painted the surrounding area in rose paint to match the future clapboard but it will be unseen once the bay is put in place.  I traced around the 2nd floor bay when it was perched in place with a pencil to outline exactly how closely I  will install the clapboard/shingles but you can also just leave it in place as you are installing your siding.

I also made the 1st floor bay removable but I had to do a little bit of engineering changes to the porch railing first because I had upgraded all my windows so the bay could not be moved sideways as the Greenleaf instructions say to follow.   I had to cut some of the trim above and then when I made my porch railing I made the one piece in front of the bay removable also.   You cannot tell it is not glued in but it can be easily pulled out towards you and then the 1st floor bay pulls out that way too.   Hope this helps, Selkie!

And thanks to everyone for all of your positive comments!
