Detachable eave 1

denkyem

The key is that this whole trim/nosing assembly is actually much sturdier than I'd realized, and it attaches to the roof edge via a channel in the nosing (the blue part pictured here). So, I assembled the trim/nosing and glued the two sides to each other, but not to the roof (though i rested them in place on the roof to get all the positioning and angles right). Then I attached the cut off piece of the eave to the bottom back edge of the nosing (fitting it in to the groove) and glued it in place. Then I shingled. I am not going to glue this whole piece of nosing/trim to the house itself -- it will just sit in place, and stay there because of the groove. This will let me remove it, together with that back eave, when i need to get the house through a tight doorway.
