yesterday...paneling

WyckedWood

One of the reasons I didn't like coming in this room, as soon as you open the door (it leads in from the laundry room) dark paneling surrounds you on both sides. I found that depressing and unbearable. I decided on a whim yesterday to JUST DO IT !! and get started, doing something about it. I didn't want to get into tearing the paneling out, so the best I can do for right now is to at least try painting it. It does have a slightly raised grain, and Im hoping will resemble bead board when Im finished. Starting with Kilz primer, I have one wall primered and have to go pick out some paint. It will be an Ivory or light cream.

** I hope no one minds me posting about this...since its not a dollhouse, but it is somewhat dollhouse related, since I cant work on my dollhouses with any piece of mind until its finished, and I value everyones opinion and advice along the way :-) I will only post one picture a day so I don't clog up the gallery with non dollhouse photos.

Do I mind? Whoa, no !! I've been anxiously awaiting these pictures!!!!!! Thank you for giving us a glimpse of your new studio. Lots of folks share their studio spaces, however tiny or huge. It helps us all to see how each other organizes things and set up work stations. I'm so excited for you that you are finally to "your" room in the new house. The lighter color paint will certainly cheer things up a great deal.

I hate paneling, but love beadboard. I think this will look wonderful once it's all painted. And NO... we don't mind studio pics! :) Keep 'em coming!

Thanks for the encouragement, the paint is looking pretty good so far, although it will need more coverage than I hoped, probably one coat of primer and three coats of paint (ugh) so its slow going. Im also repainting some furniture at the same time so its Really slow going.

Remember the kiddo song - inch by inch, row by row, gonna make my garden grow  ... all it takes is a rake and a hoe .... a little sunshine, a little rain .....

So goes your studio. Soon it will be blooming miniatures and be a place of respite for you.

Thanks Selkie I also keep reminding myself of Tracy's "inch by inch it's a cinch" saying lol...I'm only doing one wall at a time just to not get overwhelmed.

I painted panelling in my previous house and never regretted it!! I did have to prime, and then it took 3 coats of a good quality paint.  It was a finished basement and I chose a sunny yellow.  I painted my stained trim and doors in white. Thought I would never finish! but it really made a difference in the feel of the living space.

Keep posting your progress.

Thanks Sue, I love hearing success stories since I'm still in the middle of this process and can barely see the light at the end of the tunnel!
