Whitney Plantation Kitchen Chopping Block

Most of the furnishings at the Whitney Plantation are not original. The owner, a New Orleans attorney named Cummings, has purchased and continues to purchase antiques appropriate to the time and place. This chopping block table caught my attention for the thousands of cut marks. I got a small chill as I thought about the many hands that worked here to prepare meals for the Haydel family and their guests.
