Not to be confused with toques, which are those tall white chef's caps—a tuque, or ski cap/ ski hat to folks in the U.S., is an essential part of any québécois winter gear—and I doubt that the Aucoin's move to beautiful Thorny Rock, ME would change their need for winter gear much, so why not add a maple leaf and sell them to chilled visitors alongside the rest of the goodies in the shop!

These tuques are made of the fingertips of cheap knit gloves, the kind we used to call "skating gloves" in my house (because skaters use them, they're thin enough to protect against the chill in a rink but not much else) which now seem to be everywhere for only a couple of bucks. I bought them for the palms, for another mini project that I haven't yet gotten to, but I looked over at those fingertips and saw hats this falls, so voilà! Two projects out of each cheap pair.

The maple leaves are made with a paper-punch and colored napkins. I discovered that my paper-punch didn't like fabric, which was obviously my first choice, but it cut through napkins well and they have a pretty good fabric-y look in mini.
