I first carefully removed the pieces from the sheets and dry fit the house, which was funny, because even with very thin cut strips of tape, it was only loosely together. But it served its purpose to help me figure out sides to stain and sides to paint. I used post-it removable correcting tape to mask the areas I didn't want to paint.
