I made the grate with toothpicks, I tested a light inside but it didnt really show up... I may look into getting a LED for it.

Love to know what paint you used on it Jennifer, its a really good finish.

Hi Mike,

first I sanded well, then I primed (flat primer) sanded, primed & sanded again. The curved piece at the very top and the tiny curve-up behind the burners were strips glued on. I filled the "curve" with joint compound, then after dry I sanded some more. I gave it a few coats of white "testers" enamel paint (for model cars) The final coat was Rustoleum Triple Thick Glaze <---that was the trick!

Paint and glaze before putting it together.
