Mary Engelbreit Themed Arthur - downstairs room

fov

The house has been constructed so the front door is inaccessible (and glued in place). I don't have a problem with that, but it's a funny optical illusion -- I didn't even notice the lack of door at first! I love the window seat here but the busy papers aren't doing it for me (even though I know that's an iconic Mary Engelbreit style), so I plan to redo them. I might replace the stairs with a Houseworks set just so I don't have to mess with them too much.

I think the reason for the door is that the stairs on this kit have been reversed. The kit has them going down toward the front door, - see those holes in the ceiling above the stairs? That is where the stringers for the stairs are supposed to be attached. Interesting bash!

Oh interesting... but it looks like you can use the same stair hole either way. When I built the Arthur I left the stairs out completely, so I wasn't really thinking about how they're "supposed to" go.

I'm thinking of pulling these out and replacing them with a Houseworks simple staircase, or maybe making my own. The risers are just paper (not attached to wood) and the wall's a little loose, so I think it'll be easier / less frustrating for me to start over than trying to fix up these stairs.
