Left Window Stoned and Ready for Mortar

dkumpula

I did this section first, so it doesn't look as good as the front in my opinion. I'm going to cover the stone with a matte clear coat before mortaring. Interestingly, it is a bit difficult to locate matte clear-coat.

Yes it is! I use Liquitex brand, found in the artist paint section of the craft stores. The house is looking very cool. Lucky daughter you have!

Oh, good to know. Wycked! I found some matte clear coat at Lowe's that was intended for stained wood. Unfortunately, its water based, so I'll have to put it on in thin coats over the plaster.

I'm guessing when its all complete, it'll last about a week before something minor gets damaged. My daughter just entered the temper tantrum stage a few months ago, but thankfully most of the tantrums tend to occur in the kitchen - not where her mini will be located! :)

Not to discourage you or anything, but the temper tantrum thing - it returns at various ages with different configurations. We are in new temper tantrum phases with a 10 yr old and a 15 yr old - quite different than the 2 -3 yr old one.

Not to throw more clouds into the mix, but mine is 20 and STILL has temper tantrums. Luckily she's away at college, so I only have to deal with it on the occasional weekend when she visits. :)
