I sanded it and stained it a honey color (it matches our kitchen haha) since I want to keep the interior of the house pretty light-colored, as there aren't many windows and I'm not wiring it up. Just waiting for the glue to dry to continue, then I'll give it a nice shiny varnish and plop a cushion on top.
