Penelope Renovation (KidKraft)

Penelope Renovation (KidKraft)

I saw this well loved dollhouse on the side of the road; it was waiting for the garbage truck. It looked like good bones, so I picked it up. I decided to challenge myself to create a whole new look using the materials I have on hand to renovate this house. The only things I might have to buy are basics like white primer and glues. I think I'm going to get a long string of fairy lights to electrify (another purchase), and I might need more siding. Okay, so already I'm buying stuff. So maybe if I just keep costs to a minimum....

I'm wondering if I should take my Dremel brush to the paper and remove as much as possible, or if sanding the paper will be enough to have the glue adhere. I've tried scraping and that paper is on really good!

Have you tried wetting it with a wet sponge? It kind of softens the paper and then it's easier to scrape or peel off.

I have. It's very waterproof! I've primed it after sanding. If the paint stays on, I'll move forward. If not I'll try wetting it more. It's the Mdf and it appears to swell when wet. Thanks for the advice!

I’m running into a very similar paper problem; let us know if the sanding works!!

Stuffing up the paper appeared to work. Latex and acrylic paints are sticking as well as tacky glue on wallpaper.
