I am planning to donate this house to an auction for my nephew's best friend's daughter..she was born prematurely with multiple complications. Their medical bills are exorbitant - 50K-60K above what the insurance covers, so I thought in some "small" way this house might help to raise money for their cause. Having had a preemie myself (33 wks w/17 days hospitalization), I certainly understand how things might have been for my child, and thankfully were not - he is perfectly healthy..."there but for the grace of God, go I"
Sooo,
I was lucky enough to get this house about 3/4's of the way finished from Redneck Princess (via JustOneMore - aka Pat)
The main part of house was assembled and primed, so I only needed to do the porch railings and minor additions. I painted it in the cream color outside and then repainted the shutters in ivy green and a mulberry wash. When I received the house from Redneck Princess (Kathy), it came with a bag full of the pieces that had not yet been attached (upstairs shutters, gingerbread, etc.) It also had 2 doors (one was the one the kit came with, and the other was the door I chose to use on this house - I think it is so much more appealing) It is not finished yet, but getting close. I was going to make this a family Christmas house, but when I heard about the auction, I felt this house would be perfect. I was going to make it a fairy house (as you can see in the upstairs room, however it now seems to be screaming a honeymoon cottage, so I hope it is done changing it's mind! LOL
Thank you so very much Pat and Kathy -you have given me that boost I needed to get back at miniatures..I seem to drift off of them until the lightning strikes me again.
