Finally, some light on the subject.
But first, some of my goodies that I got from Michael's with my gift cards from Mom (thanks Mom!):
I was eying that pastel turquoise paper for the country house living room, since I didn't like the paper I'd installed there; before (finally got windows installed, after putting fixtures on them including handles made from Kris' tutorial at http://1inchminisbykris.blogspot.com/search/label/How%20to%20make%20kitchen%20cabinets%20from%20mat%20board., as well as black-painted jewelry-fixture-bits for "locks"):
After:
Much better. Here are some of the scrapbook papers that I'm using:
Finally got on the wainscoting for the powder room (1/16" basswood strips); decided to go with a simple beadboard:
I painted it with acrylic a few times, spackling the gaps because while it seemed like a good idea at the time to allow spaces between the little boards, it didn't look good after painting.
Finally getting a start on the wiring layout; I had gotten a little battery-pack with ten lights stringing out from it (found it on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Dollhouse-Miniature-Clear-Lights-Green/dp/B00U6UV7SI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434837512&sr=8-1&keywords=flora+lite+ten). I positioned the battery pack underneath the house and laid out each light to its destination (see, this is why I couldn't glue the house to the big plywood base yet):
I thought I might have to splice in extra wire to some points, but it turned out that I didn't have to do that. Here are the living room and kitchen ceiling papers (embossed card stock from Michael's) in place; the lower one was glued (white school) onto cardstock and then glued to the ceiling, whereas the upper one was glued straight to the ceiling. I Mod-Podged them both. The bubbles needed some help (rubbing down with a soft cloth) to go away.
The light fixtures are a weird combination of little brass-colored pieces taken from a "nail-on swivel glide" set of little "feet" from a hardware store, glued to a plastic "bottle cap" (found in Michael's) with model glue (and a wooden round glued on top), then spray-painted. I was really trying to think outside the box for these light fixtures!
I measured and installed the false ceilings in the second floor; you can see that I wasn't paying attention and so the "inside" of the ceiling also has embossed paper on it! Oh well...
Here are some views of the wires stringing along the outside walls (now you can see why I couldn't start siding yet):
Some views of the inside so far, un-lit and lit:
I need to get on those stairs! (That dangling light on the left side of the living room is for a closet in the staircase.) And, I need to figure out what the porch light fixtures look like, so I can finally get to siding!
