Willow progress.
Even though it may not look or feel like it, I guess that I have actually made alot of progress with the Willow-- I finally decided that painting the window trim red would be too much, so I went with a few coats of off-white blends. I also decided that yes, I did need shutters...! Even though they are very time-consuming, I really like the look. The frame is in raw umber, and the slats are an off-white to match the window trim; I cut and glued in each slat individually, then sprayed the finished pieces with matte sealer because I was very concerned that the acrylic paint colors might smudge into each other after all that work!
I am coming up on the finish line with the interior, finally wallpapering the bathroom and attic, finishing the stair railing, and installing the ceiling and wainstotting in the kitchen:
The "carpet" in the attic children's room is actually from a knit wool baby's blanket that my mother had found second-hand and got for me because she thought that I might be able to use it in a dollhouse. I think it works great here!
I need to prioritize what needs to be finished up here, because I have a tendency to go off on rabbit trails and run out of time... <_< So, in no particular order:
Priority: curtains. My mother suggested lace curtains in all the windows; I think that I will make them all the same in order to streamline this process.
Priority: finish the understair closet along with the wiring strip.
Priority: roof. Below, I noted that my shingles were buckling up like no other, so for these shingles, I laid one row at a time (sometimes with a whole week to dry). No buckling!
Priority: finish dormer windows.
Priority: finish second attic room with beams and newspaper.
Priority: finish edge trim.
Priority: finish bits of individual room trim.
Ooops, almost forgot:
Priority: front door!
I think that will just about do it. I had originally wanted window boxes but I think there is no time for this; I'll put some pots by the front door. Also no interior doors because out of time and out of hinges. I had thought about making some furniture but no way there is time for this: I think that I will just include a few pieces, and the family can add to the collection if they want...!
