Paint washes.
I was thinking about the Willow and was thinking that it looked a bit dark, so I washed it lightly with a beige-cream:
That looks a bit better. I am still thinking about the best color to paint the window trim; I keep leaning to a red. I've also been thinking about whether to put shutters on this house...
I gave the Magnolia shingles a dark dirty wash and then sanded out all the blotches and glue spots:
I rather like the weathered effect! But I am not going for an overall weathered look to the whole house, so I figured I better put another wash on there.
You can also see that I have cleaned out the paperclay stones and washed 'em with a green-y hue. I think it plays off the window trim well and I like how it turned out. Now I need to start sealing everything and finish the trim-- I am still thinking about how to trim the flashing. My inclination is to use off-white strips the same color as the house base, as I did with the Pierce way back when, but I need to figure out if that will be too stark against the shingle color....
