More roof work, and gutters.
Well after a few coats of gesso, here are the gutters:
I used strips of matboard and sewing pin ends to make the tie-downs. I rather like the effect. Now I need to apply some spackle here and there and maybe gesso one more time; then I need to paint it. So far I've been thinking the same off-white I've used for the house, but maybe another idea will strike me while I'm working on other things...
Like the eaves:
The kit has some curlicues to put in the eave space but I just wasn't feeling it, so I found a great use for some 1/16" basswood that I had gotten that I didn't discover was scored into 1/4" "floorboards" until I got it home... Well I managed to cover half the eaves with that, but had to score up some 1/32" basswood to cover the rest (I am just about plumb out of 1/16" basswood!), but it all got covered at some point.
Just finished shingling most of the house, just need to finish the top rows now:
You can see that I am using up my considerable collection of leftover round-end shingles, but I turned 'em upside down. I think that this contributed to the considerable warping that I have had so far, but I am watching otterine's blog http://www.otterine.com/blog/blog1.php to see what she does because she is painting her shingles (a nice slate-y color) and that's what I plan to do with these. I think a nice slate color will look great with the copper flashing and the off-white overall with green accents...
Meanwhile inside, here is what the carpeted room looks like so far:
This room is eating up the trim, and it isn't done yet! Those dangly things hanging from the ceiling insert are little Christmas ornaments that I had gotten years ago but I think they fit in nicely here.
Well I am going to let all the shingles finish setting while I go finally do something I should've done a long time ago: grout the Willow. I got notice that a dear family friend is expecting her first granddaughter and so the Willow will be her house-- about time I finished it!
