Preparing for a Show

Although I have doubts that either house will sell, I have a sponsor for a Craft Festival on the last weekend of November, so I'm going. I am excited about displaying both houses and the Tudor for the first time. Another advantage of framing the house - it looks interesting even at such an early stage in construction. Even if the houses don't sell, there is still the possibility of a customer commissioning a house. My only customer was a local resident, so things could turn out well.

I don't like to sound like a greedy person, but this hobby isn't cheap and the only way to build more houses is to find a way to finance them. That and I don't have any room for another house.

So to get ready for the show I'm trying to finish all of the sub-projects I've started for the Tudor house (utility building and yard). I also have to finish the B & B. It still needs most of the porch spindles replaced and all of the roof windows have to be made and installed, along with the chimney caps. I have almost 4 weeks to get this all done and I'm taking a few days off next week, so I'm hopefull. I'm also pleased with the way the utility building's doors turned out. I've been procrastinating on that part of the build for at least 2 months. I had an idea of how I wanted them to look, but I wasn't certain and I wasn't sure if I would be able to avoid any technical difficulties. They did turn out well and oddly enough the task of soldering two tiny eyelets through the archway's roof trusses wasn't difficult at all.

I am disappointed that I will most likely not have the living room finished in time. That will be one of the more spectacular rooms in the house. I do like the diversity of this house. The creepy basement, fancy brick work, dirty, exposed brick and framing in the utility building and very well appointed main rooms. It has a little bit of everything.

I have been thinking about my next build. The idea of a Gothic Mansion is starting to sound interesting (I would be able to integrate a fancy 2 story library and possibly the pipe organ I've been thinking about building). Of course it would probably be to big to be practical and It would put off the NY Brownstone house for years. Hmm. . .gotta stay focused on the Tudor for now.
