Still Framing
So I've been framing the roof for the past couple of weeks. The roof is one of if not the most complex part of building a woodframe house in my opinion. Numerous angles, lots of parts cut at different lengths and the entire thing has to be assembled as a separate component from the attic deck. This is the easiest way to panel the interior, but the structure itself must be sturdy enough to be moved around with the deck. I won't be able to breath a sigh of relief until after the paneling is installed. Unfortunately, I still have a number things to finish before I start that step. I still have to frame the turret roof, the ceiling and roof for the utility building, frame the roof of the covered walkway, finish framing the kitchen and about 80% of the 2nd floor. After a short photoshoot of the framed house I'll start covering the attic interior. That is probably about 3 weeks away, but progress continues.
Framing does move relatively quickly and its great to see a project take shape, but its the finishing work that makes the house a masterpiece. The only problem is that the finishing work also takes a long time to accomplish.
