Floors, wainscoting and closet.
So I have been toodling along-- I finished the floor for the parlor, with 1/32" basswood:
Then I had hubby cut me out a piece of 1/4" plywood for the base, and I cut up some quarter-round that was sitting around the house (leftover from his projects) to be a border for it. I don't have any real cutting tools (need to see about that Dremel fixture); I hand-sawed it then dremeled it down to size. I'll sand, spackle and paint it to finish.
My craft space looks very messy but it has its own sort of organization...!
I worked a bit in the bathroom, making a frame for a sink mirror (took parts from a Corona Concepts furniture kit for the mirror frame and "glass", and made the rest from balsa) since I needed something to hide the wiring. Here I am also dry-fitting some Corona Concepts furniture pieces that I am finishing up for the bathroom (shelves, towel-rack, hamper).
I laid out the parlor wainscotting on cardstock; here it is in dryfit. I have problems using white cardstock because the white shows through, but I'll figure out something... I need to see about colored cardstock...
I'm also preparing to install the closet door:
I guess the little light bulb will only really be visible with a mirror once I get the door installed!
Edit: guess I should 'splain about the fireplace-- the Westville doesn't come with one as far as I know (OK, I haven't read every word of the instructions, but I'm pretty sure), but it does have a chimney. Well I just don't feel right about putting a chimney with no fireplace, so I had one leftover from the Beacon Hill and covered it with paperclay. It's almost the last of my paperclay, too-- and I've used up virtually all of my basswood. This house is cleaning me out!
