While I was waiting for my wallpaper and electrical supplies to arrive I decided it was time to bite the bullet and prime the interior. It's like cleaning bathrooms . . . once you start it really isn't quite so bad!

Finally, my supplies have arrived and I can proceed!

I started by running my tape wire and inserting all of my lighting. Once that was done and working, I sautered my connections.

After the adrenaline rush of installing the lighting, I decided it was time for a more relaxing bit of work, so I glued the carpet runner to the staircase. Of course, just as I thought, I need more! Why didn't I just order two to begin with? Oh well, add that to my next order list!

I then wallpapered the front foyers on the first and second floors and painted the mural on the front of the staircase. Even though you can't see the mural readily, it adds a bit of suprise if you look in through the living room window! I then positioned the staircase (with a little help from my hammer!).

Since I'm now waiting to order more carpet runner and crown moulding and baseboards, I still can't attach the right side wall. Darn, darn, darn! Good thing I'm not a licensed general contractor . . . I'm pretty sure I'd be fired by now!

Anyway, I decided to move onto the second floor staircase. Okay, now I know this isn't rocket science, but gee whiz I had a time trying to figure it out. So, for those of you who want to save your sanity, I've provided step by step pictures (you know and I know that a picture is worth a thousand words).

Of course, I stained everything first (except for that little bit behind the 2nd flight, I'm hoping there's a piece that covers that somewhere in this mess!). Oh, and I also wallpapered! Very important! I then inserted the first flight of stairs between the two walls.

Then I positioned the short second flight of stairs. The notch in the floor by the paint tin is for the bannister which will be glued onto the stair and then the whole thing will be glued and set in place.

And then on goes the staircase/closet wall.

That pretty much brings me up to date. Tomorrow is Friday and I'm going to devote the whole day to working on the house . . . more painting trim (yuck), wallpapering and adding some flooring!

Hi, first off beautiful job, and second of all thanks so much. I was having trouble figuring out the second 'upper' staircase part, and thanks to your blog I now know exactly how it goes hehe.

Thanks again, God bless.
