I've completed the main gable over the front of the Orchid. I had a bit of an issue figuring out the alignment of the gable because I tend to invert things and of course I don't follow direction very well but I did get it to work out.
I'm thinking of papering one attic room with newspapers, I found a free printie site with 1:12 scale newspapers and now I just need to find paper that will work as newsprint and print them out. I'm thinking of aging the paper with a
I've managed to remove and prep the windows for The Orchid. I am finding a lot of lamination chipping off while I'm sanding these little pieces. I'm using Elmers wood filler and spackle to fill gaps, let the pieces dry over night and then sand them. It seems to be working well. I have one rectangular window and the octagon windows to do. I'm thinking I may try painting the supplied acetate window panes for a stained glass look. I don't want to invest in Gallery Glass, until I see how painting th

It's been over a year since I've really thought about working with my miniatures or my Orchid. My mother passed away on 4/4/15 after a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure. She would ask me once in a while "How's your doll house coming?" and would ooh and ahh over my ideas and when I showed her some little things I had tucked away for when I could build. I never had time for me, taking care of her so I would just answer, "I'll work on it soon." The time has come

Today I have a cold. I think my son brought it home from school. My head is congested, I can't sleep and I desperately want to get into the studio to create.
I spent some time the other day setting things up. I have to take pictures and add them in tomorrow.

Our home is a huge, old and rambling 18 room Colonial built in 1900. It has three floors and three complete apartments. I don't rent because I love my privacy. The second floor area is my work studio. It has a self contained kitchen and full bath and 4 rooms. Two of the rooms will become studio area for my sewing, modeling and miniature building.

Yesterday, the stove kit was started. We took a break after 3 hrs to let the glue set. All that was left were the feet and the knobs, and small final assembly.
It was completed today. I don't think I'm going to use the stove "tile mat" that came with the stove. I don't care for it and most of the 1900's stoves I've been looking at don't seem to have anything on the floor under the stoves. So I think I'll omit it or create something else to go under there

Today I worked on the Chrysnbon stove I purchased off of Ebay. I loved this stove the minute I saw it and figured it would be an easy build since I have had model building experience putting together models since I was about 8.
So while I had the spare time, I gathered the stove kit, my exacto blade kit, my Tamiya cement (I can't say enough great things about this cement, I love it) and a mug of coffee.

Today I thought about rooms, what's to go where, what doesn't need to be included and the general atmosphere of the house.
I think I'm going to increase the kitchen area of the home and decrease the living area space. I've got a bedroom planned for the upper floor and I'm still thinking if I can or want to add attic space to the house.
