Christmas cheer in the summertime

Looks like Emma has been on several adventures with Pastalinda and Selkie - including visiting a miniature castle: A creche an ark (with some doll friends - and there really seems to be TWO of everything! - except a male dollhouse doll) a giant cuckoo clock: (this must be like the Big Ben of Belchertown, no?) and choir practice Emma has obviously been enjoying several different

Arrival in Massachusetts (Emma has crossed the border)

Emma arrived in Massachusetts and needed a rest after crossing the border from Canada. What a lovely looking veranda! Emma then spent some time with Madelaine - who appears to be an expert banjo player. I love Madelaine's costume - the plaid shirt is so nicely scaled. Emma had another comfy bed: And rose early to help with chores (Emma is such a great worker!). Emma al

Emma says farewell to Ottawa (and Canada)

What a great visit to Ottawa! Emma toured the famous bashed Glencroft of Ottawa: Got a peek at the upcoming Olympic mascots for 2010 (totally cool): Enjoyed Liza's collection (the cutest guinea pigs are on the floor!!): Check out the hospital corners on that bed! Liza keeps those rooms in order with military precision! And packed up (with cute good luck charms/souvenirs) ready to head to Pastalinda:

Emma tours Ottawa

Look who is tucked neatly into the giant moose guard's uniform: What an adventuress! She is obviously getting over her Moosephobia. Emma's sightseeing included the parliament buildings and a monument to peacekeepers: As well as a view of the American embassy: Hanging out with a giant 1/12th scale flying magical creature: Enjoying the bounty of Canadian farms: Visit

Ten things we have discovered about Emma so far

Once again, Emma's hosts have helped me to see more of her personality - so here's my list of ten things I have learned about Emma so far: 1 - Emma can (and loves to) ride dutch bikes 2 - Emma loves cheese and chocolate 3 - Emma's dog (named Dog) is scared of cats 4 - Emma can ride horses - bareback 5 - Emma is always willing to paint houses, inspect buildings, and push baby carriages - at the drop of a hat! 6 - Dog is not afraid of heights (as evidence

Emma and the giant Moose

Emma continues her adventures with lmgervais - who posted this update: This afternoon, Emma and I looked around and managed to find some furniture for the Buttercup for the duration of her stay. It doesn't match, but Emma said that she didn't mind! After all that work, she made herself a cup of tea and put up her feet to rest for a while. Then, it was off to supper at Montana's restaurant, where she wanted to see the famous deer and moose up close. She said

Emma in lmgervais' garden (and Smurfopolis)

Emma arrived at Liza's in record time! Thanks Nechee!! Liza put some photos up right away and I had to giggle at the smurf visit!! The smurfs look pretty riled up by Emma's presence! As you can see this is a full blown Smurfopolis: And here's Emma relaxing in the garden - what a gorgeous lush and green garden: The pond is exquisite: Looks so nice and cool there. Lucky Emma!

Emma inspects Nechee's Beacon Hill

Emma spent a quiet visit at Nechee's place (for Emma it was quiet - for Nechee, it sounded quiet busy and probably loud with all the children at the house this summer!) Here she is with her dog - carefully inspecting Nechee's work: Be careful, little dog! That roof looks great. And now, Emma heads to her last stop on the Canadian leg of the tour - to Liza's house (lmgervais)!

Emma heads to Nechee's place

Emma was driven (somewhat reluctantly from what I can tell) to the post so she could head to Nechee's place for the next leg of the Canadian tour. Canada has really kept Emma hopping so far!

Emma works on the Gloucester (and other things)

Emma likes to help, so it looks like Sue obliged her by having her help out with the Gloucester: Went to work with Sue at Tim Hortons: A visit to Strawberry Patch House: To lunch with Gabriel: Visited the twins at the Lemon Twist house: And took them for a walk (Emma was a governess for several of my houses, so she likes to do this): I

A busy first day in Ontario

Waking up after some much needed rest: Off to the neighbors: To play some pool! (who new Emma was a pool shark?) Sue kindly agreed to let Emma ride a bicycle (Emma now loves biking since Wytchy introduced her to it): And now for something scandalous...Emma on horseback!!!...riding bareback no less! She is an adventurous doll, that is for sure. And then some chocolate (thank go

Emma made it to Canada!

Sue let me know Emma made it safely - and has created an album of photos. What a lovely welcome: And what a fantastic guest room: You can see that Emma is traveling with a dog (a distant relative of Molly the Moose I believe)...but he has no name. Perhaps it is just "Dog". I like that Sue has pointed out that Dog is afraid of cats. Very cute. Freshening up in the cheery bathroom: Dinne

Emma heads to Canada

Emma wrapped up her visit to The Netherlands by attending a farewell party: Saying goodbye to all friends: And posing with a souvenir: What a fantastic visit!

Cheeeese!

You can't go to Gouda without actually visiting a big wheel of gouda cheese. Emma could live off that cheese for years. And she visited the Town Hall: Wytchy has really shown Emma the sights! What a treat!

Visiting Strawberry Patch house and The Arthur

Emma continued her amazing tour of The Netherlands with visits to some nearby houses. Here she is at Strawberry Patch House (belonging to Wytchy's sister!): Where a nice dinner was hosted: And later she visited the Arthur - which appears to be inhabited by two charming elderly ladies: The parlor is wonderfully victorian and velvety: Looks like Emma has made some new and good doll-friends.

A miniature dutch bike!

Who knew Emma could ride a bike? And such a nice dutch bike! You can see in Wytchy's other photos that it even has a tiny coatguard on the back wheel to protect Emma's skirt. I had no idea Emma was capable of such feats. And a visit to a landmark museum (ok, it's a miniature shop to us, but to Emma a cultural heritage museum for sure) I think Emma must be thrilled to be around so much Reutter porcelain. I know I wou

Emma's adventure begins in Gouda, South Holland

Got an update from Wytchy on Emma's visit - it looks like it's going really well. Wytchy has an album of pics she is gathering from the visit - and I thought I'd post just a few to give an idea of how much fun Emma is having. Here's a lovely view of the local landscape: Emma had breakfast with the lady of the house in the lovely diningroom (what a well laid table!): And it appears Emma borrowed a traveling cloak: And

Emma arrives (First stop: The Netherlands!)

Yay! I have just heard from Wytchy that Emma arrived safely! Wytchy says Emma is resting and recovering from jetlag. What a warm welcome! And here is a shot of the room Emma gets to stay in: More to follow...

Emma - travel doll project 2009

I was so intrigued and entertained by other travel doll projects (especially Molly the Moose) that I decided to try one of my own. I went through my collection of dolls and found several willing travelers - but it was Emma who won out. She is made of sturdy materials and has a lovely smile. She also has a little smudge on her cheek which we will call a "beauty mark". She acted as governess in several of my houses, but has never really had a house of her own - so it's probably best sh
